Sauerkraut Balls

This first-place finish was submitted by Loretta Schleis

1 lg jar sauerkraut

1 lg onion, finely chopped

1 lb hot sausage

1/4 lb ground beef

1 tsp salt

1 tsp sugar

3/4 c bread crumbs

3 eggs

1/4 c milk

dry mustard and pepper to taste

Lightly saute meat and onion, add the sauerkraut, and brown. Remove from heat and mix in 3/4 cups bread crumbs, one well-beaten egg, dry mustard and pepper.

Let the mixture cool, then shape into small balls. Dip in beaten eggs and milk.

Coat the balls in bread crumbs, place in shallow pan, and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

Shortcuts worth sharing.....
Cooking hamburgers on hot grill or fire? Poke a hole in the
center while shaping it. That will help the center cook faster, and the
hole will be gone when the meat is done.
